Safety Information
WARNING! Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or damage.
- Two-Person Job: The frame is large and awkward. Always assemble and lift with at least two people.
- Stable Surface: Assemble on a clean, flat, protected surface to prevent scratches.
- Secure Mounting: Always secure the frame to the wall using the provided brackets to prevent tipping.
- Check Wall Type: Ensure you use correct fixings for your wall (solid wall, drywall, stud).
- Keep Away from Children: Small parts are a choking hazard. Keep assembly area clear during and after build.
CAUTION! Do not overtighten screws or cam locks, as this may strip the particleboard.
Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps in order. Do not fully tighten connectors until all parts are joined.
- Prepare Parts: Lay all parts on the floor with the finished sides facing down.
- Attach Top Rail Connectors: Insert the two Top Rail Connectors (102.345.01) into the pre-drilled holes at the top of the door frame upright. Secure with provided Cam Lock Screws (105.678.04). Turn cam locks 90° clockwise to lock.
- Attach Bottom Guide Plate: Slide the Bottom Guide Plate (103.456.02) into the slot at the base of the frame. Tap gently with a hammer if needed. Ensure it is flush and straight.
- Join with Other Frame Section: If building a double door opening, align a second PAX frame section. Connect them using the Top Rail Connectors and corresponding hardware. Tighten all connections.
- Insert Cover Caps: Press the small Cover Caps (106.789.05) into the visible cam lock holes to conceal them.
Tip: Assemble the frame close to its final location to avoid moving the heavy structure long distances.
Mounting to Wall & Wardrobe
The frame must be securely attached to the wall for stability.
- Position Frame: With help, lift the assembled frame into its final position against the wall and adjacent PAX wardrobe units.
- Check for Level & Plumb: Use a level to ensure the frame is perfectly vertical (plumb) and the top rail is horizontal. Shim the bottom if the floor is uneven.
- Mark Bracket Locations: Mark the wall through the holes in the four Wall Attachment Brackets (104.567.03).
- Drill Pilot Holes: Remove the frame. Drill pilot holes at the marked locations using a drill bit suitable for your wall plugs.
- Secure Frame: Reposition the frame. Insert screws through the brackets into the wall plugs. Tighten securely, but do not pull the frame out of alignment.
- Attach to Wardrobe: If connecting to existing PAX units, use the provided connectors to fix the frame to the side panel of the wardrobe for a seamless look.
Door Installation
Instructions for attaching sliding or hinged doors to the frame.
- For Sliding Doors:
- Lift the first door panel and hook the top wheels onto the top track of the frame.
- Let the door hang. Adjust the top wheels so the door is level and parallel to the frame.
- Insert the bottom guide pin on the door into the Bottom Guide Plate on the frame.
- Repeat for the second door.
- Adjust the height and tilt using the screws on the top wheel assemblies.
- For Hinged Doors:
- Attach the hinges to the door first, following the door's specific instructions.
- With help holding the door, screw the hinge plates directly into the pre-drilled holes on the side of the PAX door frame.
- Start with the top and bottom hinges, check alignment, then attach the middle hinge(s).
- Final Check: Open and close doors several times. Ensure they move smoothly without catching or dragging.
Adjustments & Alignment
Common adjustments for proper door operation.
| Issue | Adjustment Point | Action |
| Door dragging at bottom | Top wheel height | Use hex key to turn adjustment screw on top wheel bracket to raise door. |
| Gap at top/bottom uneven | Door tilt | Adjust the rear screw on the top wheel bracket to change door tilt. |
| Doors not meeting in center | Horizontal alignment | Adjust the screw on the side of the top track to move door left/right. |
