Safety Instructions
WARNING! Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or damage.
- Two-person assembly: The shelf frame is large and heavy. Always use two people for lifting and assembly.
- Secure mounting: Must be mounted to a solid wall (concrete, brick, or studs). Do not mount to plasterboard alone.
- Check wall integrity: Ensure wall can support the shelf's maximum load (see section 7).
- Keep children away: Keep children and pets away during assembly to prevent accidents.
- Use correct tools: Using improper tools may damage parts or cause injury.
Step-by-Step Assembly
Assemble the shelf unit on a soft, clean surface (e.g., carpet or blanket) to prevent scratches.
- Join side panels: Insert wooden dowels into pre-drilled holes on the side panels. Align with the top and bottom panels.
- Secure corners: Insert cam lock screws into the designated holes on the side panels. Turn the cam lock nuts clockwise with a screwdriver until tight. Do not overtighten.
- Attach back panel: If included, slide the back panel into the grooves on the frame. Secure with provided nails or clips.
- Install shelf supports: Insert the metal shelf support pins into the desired height positions on the inner sides of the frame.
- Place shelves: Gently lower the adjustable shelves onto the support pins. Ensure they are level and secure.
Tip: Do not fully tighten all screws until the entire frame is assembled to allow for adjustments.
Wall Mounting
CAUTION! This is a critical step. An improperly mounted shelf can fall and cause injury or damage.
- Locate studs: Use a stud finder to locate solid wood studs or ensure you are drilling into concrete/brick.
- Mark bracket positions: Hold the assembled shelf against the wall at the desired height. Use a level to ensure it is perfectly horizontal. Lightly mark the wall through the bracket screw holes.
- Drill pilot holes: At each mark, drill a 6mm hole to the depth of the wall plug. Clean out dust.
- Insert wall plugs: Tap the provided wall plugs into the holes until flush with the wall.
- Attach brackets: Align the mounting brackets with the holes. Insert and tighten the screws firmly into the wall plugs using a screwdriver.
- Hang the shelf: With help, lift the shelf unit and hook it onto the mounted brackets. There is usually a keyhole slot on the back of the shelf. Ensure it clicks into place and cannot be lifted off easily.
- Final check: Gently pull the shelf downwards to test stability. Re-tighten all frame screws if necessary.
Weight Limits & Usage
- Maximum total load: 30 kg (66 lbs) distributed evenly across all shelves.
- Maximum load per shelf: 10 kg (22 lbs).
- Recommended items: Books, decorative objects, small electronics, photo frames.
- Not recommended: Heavy appliances, large potted plants, aquariums, or any item exceeding the weight limit.
- Do not climb or hang: The shelf is not a ladder or a support for hanging items like swings.
Care & Cleaning
To maintain the appearance and longevity of your LIATORP shelf:
- Dust regularly: Use a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. A microfiber cloth is ideal.
- For stains: Use a mild soap solution. Wipe with a damp cloth and immediately dry with a soft cloth.
- Avoid: Abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, solvents (acetone, alcohol), or excessive water.
- Protect from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent fading or warping.
CAUTION! Never use steam cleaners or high-pressure washers.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Shelf is wobbly | Cam locks not tightened; wall mounting loose | Check and tighten all cam locks and frame screws. Ensure wall screws are tight and in solid material. |
| Shelves not level | Support pins not at equal height; wall not level | Remove shelves and ensure pins are inserted into matching holes on both sides. Re-check wall level during mounting. |
| Difficulty inserting dowels | Misaligned holes; debris in holes | Ensure parts are correctly oriented. Clean holes. Do not force; gently tap with a hammer if necessary. |
| Brackets won't align with wall holes | Wall markings inaccurate | Re-measure and re-mark bracket positions using the shelf itself as a template before drilling new holes. |
| Scratches on surface | Assembly on hard surface | Assemble on a soft blanket in the future. Minor scratches can be touched up with a matching white furniture marker. |
