Assembly Instructions
Assemble each drawer before installing into the KALLAX frame. Follow steps for one drawer, then repeat for the second.
- Prepare parts: Lay out all pieces for one drawer (1 front A, 2 sides B, 1 back C, 1 bottom D).
- Connect sides to front: Insert dowels into side panels (B). Align with holes in drawer front (A). Join and tighten using cam locks with the Allen key.
- Attach back panel: Connect the drawer back (C) to the two side panels (B) using dowels and cam locks.
- Insert drawer bottom: Slide the fiberboard bottom (D) into the grooves on all four sides until it sits flush.
- Attach runners: Screw the metal runners to the outer sides of the drawer, aligning with pre-drilled holes.
- Repeat: Assemble the second drawer identically.
Tip: Do not overtighten cam locks. A firm, snug fit is sufficient.
Installation into KALLAX Unit
Ensure the KALLAX unit is empty and accessible from the front of the cube where the drawer will be installed.
- Position runner channels: The remaining parts of the runner set attach inside the KALLAX cube. Align and screw them to the inner side panels of the cube compartment.
- Check alignment: Ensure left and right runner channels are level and at the same height.
- Insert drawer: Tilt the assembled drawer slightly, hook the rear wheels of the drawer runners into the back of the channel, then lower the front and push gently until the drawer clicks into place.
- Test function: Open and close the drawer several times. It should glide smoothly and stop evenly when closed.
- Install second drawer: If installing in a vertical 2x1 configuration, repeat steps for the cube above or below.
CAUTION! Do not force the drawer. If it does not slide easily, remove it and check runner alignment.
Drawer Use & Adjustment
For optimal use and minor adjustments.
- Smooth operation: Drawers should open and close with minimal effort. If sticky, ensure nothing is obstructing the runners and that the unit is level.
- Adjustment: Some models allow for minor height adjustment via screws on the runner channel. Refer to diagram for adjustment points.
- Stopping: Drawers have a built-in stop to prevent them from being pulled completely out accidentally.
- Handles: The drawer front has an integrated grip at the bottom. Pull from the center.
Care & Maintenance
Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Wipe dry immediately.
- Surfaces: Wipe drawer fronts and exteriors with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Runners: To maintain smooth glide, occasionally vacuum dust from the runner channels. A dry silicone spray can be applied sparingly if needed (do not use oil).
- Interior: Wipe drawer interior with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
WARNING! Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive sponges, or excessive water, as this can damage the laminate surface.
