Safety Instructions

WARNING! Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip-over. This bookcase must be permanently attached to the wall using the provided anti-tip device.

  1. Two-Person Job: Assembly and moving require at least two people due to size and weight.
  2. Stable Surface: Assemble on a soft, clean surface (e.g., carpet, blanket) to prevent scratches.
  3. Check Parts: Do not use damaged or defective parts. Contact IKEA for replacements.
  4. Secure Assembly: Tighten all fittings firmly but do not overtighten.
  5. Wall Attachment: Always secure the bookcase to the wall, especially in homes with children or pets.

Step-by-Step Assembly

Follow the numerical steps in the included pictorial guide. This is a summary of key phases.

  1. Prepare the Panels: Lay out all panels with the finished side facing down on a protected surface.
  2. Connect Side and Bottom Panels: Insert wooden dowels (3) into the pre-drilled holes in the bottom panel (D). Align with side panels (A, B) and join. Secure using cam lock nuts (1) and screws (4) as shown.
  3. Attach Fixed Middle Shelf: Insert dowels into the ends of the fixed shelf (G). Align with the pre-drilled holes inside the side panels and attach using cam locks.
  4. Attach the Top Panel: Place the top panel (C) onto the assembled frame. Secure from the inside using the remaining cam locks and screws.
  5. Mount the Back Panel: Place the fiberboard back panel (E) into the groove. Secure it using the provided screws (2) around the entire perimeter. Do not overtighten.
  6. Insert Adjustable Shelves: Place the adjustable shelves (F) onto the shelf support pins. Ensure they are level and secure.
  7. Attach to the Wall: THIS STEP IS MANDATORY. Use the provided wall attachment device (5). Locate wall studs and secure the bookcase according to the separate wall attachment instructions.

Tip: Assemble the bookcase close to its final location to avoid moving the fully assembled unit.

Adjusting Shelves

The four shelves (F) are adjustable to accommodate items of various heights.

  1. Remove all items from the shelf you wish to adjust.
  2. Lift the shelf slightly up and then pull it forward to remove it from the support pins.
  3. Choose the desired height by selecting a pair of pre-drilled holes on the inner sides of the side panels.
  4. Insert the metal shelf support pins into the chosen holes.
  5. Place the shelf onto the pins, ensuring it is level and seated firmly on all four pins.

CAUTION! Do not overload shelves. Maximum load per shelf is 66 lbs (30 kg). Distribute weight evenly.
