Safety Instructions

WARNING! SERIOUS OR FATAL CRUSHING INJURIES CAN OCCUR FROM FURNITURE TIPPING OVER. THIS FURNITURE MUST BE PERMANENTLY SECURED TO THE WALL.

  1. Two-Person Assembly: This item is heavy. Always use two or more people for assembly and positioning.
  2. Stable Surface: Assemble on a soft, clean surface (e.g., carpet, blanket) to prevent scratches.
  3. Secure to Wall: Use the provided wall attachment device to anchor the bookcase to a wall stud. This prevents tipping, especially if children are present.
  4. Load Distribution: Place heavier items on lower shelves. Do not exceed the maximum load capacity (see Specifications).
  5. Keep Away from Heat/Moisture: Do not place near radiators, stoves, or in damp areas.

Assembly Steps

Follow steps in numerical order. Do not fully tighten screws until the structure is square.

  1. Prepare Workspace: Clear a large area and lay out all parts with labels facing up.
  2. Attach Top & Bottom to Sides:
    • Lay one side panel flat.
    • Insert cam lock screws into the pre-drilled holes for the top and bottom panels.
    • Position the top panel onto the side panel, aligning the holes. Hand-tighten the cam lock nuts.
    • Repeat for the bottom panel on the same side.
    • Attach the second side panel to the top and bottom panels in the same manner.
  3. Square the Frame: Ensure the frame is square by measuring diagonally from corner to corner. Both measurements should be equal. Adjust if necessary.
  4. Tighten All Connections: Once square, fully tighten all cam lock nuts using a screwdriver.
  5. Attach the Back Panel:
    • Place the frame face down on a soft surface.
    • Position the fiberboard back panel into the groove on the rear of the frame.
    • Secure using the provided nails or screws, starting from the center and working outwards to ensure a flat fit.
  6. Stand Upright: Carefully stand the bookcase upright with assistance.
  7. Insert Shelves: Place the adjustable shelves onto the shelf support pins at your desired heights.
  8. Secure to Wall (CRITICAL STEP):
    • Locate wall studs using a stud finder.
    • Position the bookcase against the wall in its final location.
    • Attach the wall bracket to the top rear of the bookcase using provided screws.
    • Mark drill holes on the wall through the bracket. Drill into wall studs.
    • Secure the bracket to the wall with suitable screws (not always provided; ensure they are appropriate for your wall type).

Adjusting Shelves

The shelves are adjustable for custom storage.

  1. Remove all items from the shelf you wish to adjust.
  2. Lift the shelf slightly and pull it forward to clear the support pins.
  3. Remove the metal shelf support pins from the side panels at the current height.
  4. Insert the pins into the pre-drilled holes at your desired new height. Ensure pins on both sides are at the same level.
  5. Place the shelf back onto the pins, ensuring it is level and seated securely.

Tip: For stability, always use at least two support pins per side per shelf.

Care & Maintenance

To maintain the finish and longevity of your bookcase:

CAUTION! Never drag the bookcase across the floor. Lift it to move.
