Tools Required
Tools you need to provide for assembly and mounting.
- Stud Finder: For locating wall studs (recommended).
- Electric Drill: For drilling pilot holes.
- Phillips Screwdriver: Or drill bit for screws.
- Level: To ensure shelves are straight.
- Pencil: For marking drill points.
- Tape Measure: For accurate placement.
Note: The included Allen key is for bracket adjustment only.
Safety Instructions
WARNING! Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or damage.
- Weight Limit: Do not exceed 33 lbs (15 kg) per shelf. Distribute weight evenly.
- Wall Type: Mount only to solid walls (drywall with studs, concrete, brick). Do not mount to hollow doors or plaster walls without proper anchors.
- Child Safety: Do not allow children to climb on shelves. Secure heavy items on lower shelves.
- Two-Person Job: Assembly and mounting may require two people to prevent injury and ensure stability.
- Check Stability: Regularly check that all screws and brackets are tight.
Assembly Steps
Follow these steps in order. Assemble on a soft, clean surface to avoid scratches.
- Unpack: Lay out all parts and verify against the parts list.
- Attach Brackets: Slide horizontal brackets onto the vertical uprights at your desired heights. Use the pre-drilled holes. Tighten the set screws with the Allen key.
- Connect Uprights: If your configuration requires connecting multiple uprights end-to-end, use the provided connector pieces and screws.
- Place Shelves: Lay the shelf boards onto the installed brackets. Ensure they are centered and secure.
- Pre-Mount Check: Before mounting to the wall, ensure the entire frame is square and all connections are tight.
Tip: Do not fully tighten all screws until the entire frame is aligned.
Wall Mounting
This is the most critical step for safety. Mounting into wall studs is strongly recommended.
- Locate Studs: Use a stud finder to locate at least two wall studs where the uprights will be mounted.
- Mark Positions: Hold the assembled frame against the wall. Use a level to ensure it is perfectly horizontal. Mark the screw hole positions on the wall with a pencil.
- Drill Pilot Holes: At the marked positions, drill pilot holes slightly smaller than the provided screws. If not hitting a stud, insert the provided wall anchors.
- Secure Uprights: Have a helper hold the frame in place. Drive the screws through the top holes of the uprights into the wall (and anchors).
- Final Check: Ensure the unit is firmly attached and does not wobble. Tighten all screws.
CAUTION! If you are unsure about wall integrity, consult a professional.
Adjusting Shelves
One of the key features of the BOAXEL system is adjustable shelf height.
- Empty the Shelf: Remove all items from the shelf you wish to adjust.
- Lift Shelf: Gently lift the shelf board off the brackets.
- Reposition Brackets: Loosen the set screws on the brackets with the Allen key. Slide the brackets up or down to the new desired position on the uprights.
- Retighten and Replace: Tighten the set screws firmly. Place the shelf board back onto the brackets.
Note: Brackets must be level with each other on both sides to support the shelf properly.
Weight Limits & Usage
- Max Load per Shelf: 33 lbs (15 kg).
- Recommended Items: Books, decorative objects, kitchenware, small electronics.
- Not Recommended: Heavy tools, large appliances, aquariums, or any single item exceeding the limit.
- Distribution: Place heavier items on lower shelves and closer to the vertical uprights (where support is strongest).
WARNING! Overloading can cause brackets to bend, shelves to sag, or the unit to detach from the wall.
Care & Maintenance
Unload shelves before cleaning or maintenance.
- Cleaning: Wipe shelf boards with a slightly damp cloth. Dry immediately. For metal parts, use a dry or lightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Tightening: Check the tightness of all wall screws and bracket set screws every 6 months.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect for any signs of bending, cracking, or loosening.
CAUTION! Do not use wax, polish, or chemical cleaners on the shelf surfaces.
Disassembly & Moving
To disassemble for moving or reconfiguration, reverse the assembly process.
- Empty Unit: Remove all items from shelves.
- Remove Shelves: Lift shelf boards off the brackets.
- Unscrew from Wall: Using a screwdriver, remove the screws securing the uprights to the wall. Have a helper support the unit as you remove the last screws.
- Disassemble Frame: Loosen and remove brackets from uprights. If connected, separate upright pieces.
- Pack Safely: Keep all hardware (screws, anchors, Allen key) together in a labeled bag.

Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Shelf is wobbly | Loose wall screws or brackets | Tighten all screws into the wall and bracket set screws. Ensure unit is mounted into studs or proper anchors. |
| Shelf board sags | Weight limit exceeded | Immediately reduce weight on the shelf. Check for damage. Do not use a damaged shelf. |
| Brackets won't stay in position | Set screws not tightened | Use the Allen key to firmly tighten the set screws against the upright. |
| Cannot drill into wall | Hard wall material (e.g., concrete) | Use a masonry drill bit for pilot holes. For concrete/brick, use appropriate masonry anchors (not included). |
| Unit pulls away from wall | Insufficient wall support or overload | Immediately remove all items. Remount into wall studs using new screws/anchors. Do not remount in the same holes. |
