Assembly Instructions
The upright comes pre-assembled. This section covers preparation.
- Identify mounting location. Ensure it is free of electrical wires and pipes.
- Use a stud finder to locate solid wood studs in the wall. Mark their center.
- Decide the height for your upright. The top screw must go into a wall stud.
- If mounting between studs or on masonry, use the provided wall anchors at all marked points.
CAUTION! Never rely on drywall alone to support weight. Always anchor into studs or use appropriate masonry anchors.
Wall Mounting
Follow these steps to securely mount the upright to the wall.
- Hold the mounting template against the wall at your desired height. Use a level to ensure it is perfectly vertical.
- Mark the drill hole positions through the template with a pencil.
- Remove the template. Drill holes at the marked points using the correct drill bit size for your anchors.
- Insert the wall anchors into the drilled holes. Tap gently with a hammer if needed.
- Align the upright's pre-drilled holes with the wall anchors.
- Insert the screws through the upright and into the anchors. Tighten securely with a screwdriver or drill.
- Use a level again to confirm the upright is straight before fully tightening all screws.
Tip: For maximum stability, at least two screws should be fastened directly into wall studs.
Attaching Shelves & Accessories
Once the upright is securely mounted, you can add BOAXEL components.
- Shelf Brackets: Hook the bracket onto the desired slot on the upright. You will hear a click when it's locked in place.
- Shelves: Place the shelf onto the installed brackets. Ensure it sits evenly.
- Baskets & Hooks: Attach compatible baskets, rods, or hooks to the brackets or directly to the upright slots as per their instructions.
- Adjustment: To reposition, lift the bracket slightly to disengage the lock and slide it up or down to a new slot.
WARNING! Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity per bracket or for the entire upright (see Section 7).
Weight Capacity
Adhere to these limits to ensure safety and prevent damage.
- Max load per bracket: 33 lbs (15 kg)
- Max total load for one upright: 110 lbs (50 kg) when properly mounted into studs.
- Reduced capacity: If mounted solely with anchors into masonry or drywall, total load should not exceed 55 lbs (25 kg). Consult anchor packaging for specific ratings.
Distribute weight evenly. Place heavier items on lower shelves.
Care & Maintenance
To ensure longevity of your BOAXEL upright.
- Clean with a soft, damp cloth. Dry immediately.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals.
- Periodically check that all wall screws are tight (every 6 months).
- Do not hang wet items directly on the metal upright to prevent rust.
CAUTION! Do not climb on or use the shelves as a step ladder.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Upright feels loose | Screws not tight; not anchored in stud | Tighten all screws. Remount ensuring at least two screws are in solid studs. |
| Bracket won't lock | Not aligned correctly; debris in slot | Align bracket hook with slot and press down firmly. Clean slots. |
| Shelf is uneven | Brackets not at same height; wall not level | Adjust brackets to same level on both uprights. Use a level on the shelf. |
| Can't find stud | Stud finder error; non-standard spacing | Use manual methods (tapping, measuring from corner). Studs are typically 16" or 24" apart. |
| Wall material crumbles | Old plaster or weak drywall | Use specialized toggle bolts or consult a professional for suitable anchors. |
