Safety Information

WARNING! Read all instructions before assembly and use.

  1. Stability: Ensure the base is fully weighted (with plates, sand, or water) before inserting an umbrella. An unweighted frame can tip over, causing injury or damage.
  2. Weather: Close and tilt the umbrella in strong winds, rain, or snow. Do not leave it open unattended in severe weather.
  3. Placement: Place on a flat, stable surface. Keep away from overhead power lines, trees, or structures.
  4. Handling: The frame and weighted base are heavy. Use proper lifting techniques or get assistance.
  5. Children: Do not allow children to play on or operate the crank/tilt mechanisms unsupervised.

Assembly Instructions

Estimated assembly time: 30-45 minutes. Requires two people for some steps.

  1. Prepare Base: If using weight plates, place them into the compartments of the base frame. If using sand/water, locate the fill caps but do not fill until the frame is in its final position.
  2. Attach Main Pole: Insert the bottom end of the main pole into the center socket on the base frame. Secure with the provided large bolt and washer, tightening with the Allen key.
  3. Install Tilt Mechanism: Slide the tilt mechanism collar onto the main pole at the designated height. Secure it with the set screws using the Allen key. Ensure it moves smoothly.
  4. Attach Crank Handle: Locate the crank gearbox near the top of the main pole. Align the crank handle shaft and insert it, securing it with the retaining pin or screw from the hardware pack.
  5. Final Check: Tighten all bolts and screws. Ensure the pole is vertical and the base is level.

Tip: Do not overtighten screws into the aluminum/steel parts.

Installation & Setup

  1. Choose Location: Select a flat, firm area (patio, deck, garden). Ensure there is ample clearance for the open umbrella and tilt function.
  2. Position Frame: Move the assembled frame to the desired location. Use a level to check that the base is flat.
  3. Add Weight:
    • Plates: Ensure all plates are correctly seated.
    • Sand/Water: Fill the base compartments through the fill caps. Do not overfill. Secure caps tightly.
  4. Insert Umbrella: Open your market umbrella slightly to insert the pole. Slide the umbrella pole down through the tilt mechanism and into the main pole of the frame until it rests securely. Tighten the tilt mechanism knob to hold the umbrella pole firmly.

CAUTION! The frame must be weighted before use. An empty base provides minimal stability.

Operation

Opening/Closing: Turn the crank handle clockwise to open the umbrella, counter-clockwise to close it. Do not force the crank if it jams.

Tilting: To adjust the angle, loosen the tilt knob on the mechanism, tilt the umbrella pole to the desired position, and re-tighten the knob firmly.

Securing for Wind: In breezy conditions, close the umbrella and use the provided strap or tie to secure the closed canopy.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug? N/A. For cleaning and storage.

  1. Cleaning: Wipe the steel frame with a soft, damp cloth. Use mild soap if needed. Dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  2. End of Season: Remove the umbrella. Clean and dry the frame. If possible, store indoors in a dry place. If storing outdoors, cover with a waterproof cover.
  3. Sand/Water Base: If filled, empty the base before winter to prevent freezing and cracking.
  4. Moving: Empty sand/water or remove weight plates before attempting to move the frame.

CAUTION! Do not use a pressure washer on the crank mechanism or bearings.
