Safety Information

Critical safety warnings for assembly and use.

  1. Tip-Over Hazard: Unanchored furniture can tip over. Always secure this frame to the wall using the provided wall attachment device.
  2. Weight Limit: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 110 lbs (50 kg) distributed evenly.
  3. Assembly: Assemble on a soft, clean surface to avoid scratching panels. Use correct tools.
  4. Lifting: The assembled frame is heavy. Use two people for moving and mounting.
  5. Children: Do not allow children to climb or hang on doors or drawers.

WARNING! Serious or fatal crushing injuries can occur from furniture tip-over. Always secure furniture to the wall.

Assembly Instructions

Step-by-step guide to assemble the BESTÅ frame.

  1. Prepare Workspace: Lay all parts on a clean, soft surface (e.g., carpet or blanket).
  2. Attach Feet: Screw the four adjustable feet into the pre-drilled holes on the bottom panel.
  3. Connect Side & Bottom Panel: Insert cam lock screws from the bottom panel into the side panels. Tighten cam locks clockwise using a screwdriver.
  4. Attach Top Panel: Connect the top panel to the side panels using the same cam lock method.
  5. Install Back Panel: Place the frame face down. Align the back panel and secure it using the provided nails or screws into the pre-drilled holes on all four sides.
  6. Check Stability: Ensure all cam locks are fully tightened (flush with the panel surface) and the frame is square.

Tip: Do not fully tighten cam locks until all panels are connected to allow for alignment adjustments.

Mounting to Wall

Essential steps to secure the frame and prevent tipping.

  1. Locate Wall Studs: Use a stud finder to locate solid wood studs in your wall. Mark their positions.
  2. Position Frame: Place the assembled frame in its desired final location, ensuring it is level using the adjustable feet.
  3. Attach Brackets to Frame: Using the provided screws, attach the wall mounting brackets to the top rear inside corners of the frame.
  4. Secure to Wall: Hold the frame firmly against the wall. Drill screws through the bracket holes and directly into the wall studs. Ensure screws are tight and secure.
  5. Final Check: Gently try to tilt the frame forward. It should not move if properly secured.

CAUTION! If you cannot attach to a stud, you must use appropriate wall anchors suitable for your wall type (drywall, plaster, etc.) and the weight of the loaded unit. The provided screws are for wood studs only.

Installing Interior Components

How to add shelves, drawers, and other interior fittings.

Note: Always refer to the specific instruction manual for the doors, drawers, or interior fittings you have purchased, as installation may vary.

Adjusting Doors & Drawers

Fine-tuning for perfect alignment.

  1. Door Height Adjustment: Use a screwdriver to turn the adjustment screws located at the top and bottom of the hinge arm (where it connects to the frame).
  2. Door Depth/In-Out Adjustment: Locate the screw on the hinge where it mounts to the frame. Turning this moves the door closer to or farther from the frame.
  3. Door Side-to-Side Adjustment: Loosen the screws that secure the hinge to the door itself, adjust position, and retighten.
  4. Drawer Alignment: Most BESTÅ drawers have an adjustment mechanism on the runner. Look for a lever or screw that allows the drawer front to be moved up/down or left/right.

Tip: Make small adjustments and check alignment after each turn.
